Hass Avocado
Origin: Peru
One of the main agricultural export products in Peru, after grapes and blueberries. The country is the second most important exporter of this fruit worldwide after Mexico and the first in South America.
The avocado has had a sustainable growth in Peru over the last years, in terms of the harvested area, the annual increase in its production and the level of yield.
The production area of this crop covers most of the coastal regions of the North, Center and South, Central Coast, inter-Andean and Andean valleys and part of the jungle; adn due to the diversity of climates, Peru produces avocados throughout the year, concentrating half of the total production during the months of April to July.
Peru has a highly developed, technically sound sanitary and phytosanitary certification system, recognized by many destinations and the country is prepared to demonstrate the traceability of the exported fruit in the face of any sanitary or phytosanitary problem that may occur in the international market.
The Hass Avocado is the most commercialized variety in the world, native to California, its fruits are oval, pyriform, medium size (200 to 300 gr.).
Excellent quality, thick, black, and rough skin, it peels easily and has color green to dark purplish when the fruit ripens.
The pulp has no fiber, and its oil content fluctuates between 18 and 22%. The seed is small in size, spherical in shape and attached to the pulp.
